About the Job
EQ Staffing Solutions is currently building a pool of experienced and safety-conscious Skilled Labourers for upcoming industrial and construction projects throughout Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
We are looking for candidates who have previous hands-on construction or industrial experience and are comfortable supporting trades, operating tools and completing a variety of skilled site duties with limited supervision.
Employment Type: Temporary / Project-Based / Casual
Schedule: Varies by project
Start Dates: Ongoing / Based on Project Requirements
Responsibilities
Duties will vary depending on the project but may include:
- Supporting carpenters, concrete crews and other skilled trades
- Measuring, cutting and preparing construction materials
- Operating common hand and power tools safely
- Assisting with concrete preparation, placement and site work
- Performing demolition, material preparation and installation support
- Loading, unloading and staging materials and equipment
- Assisting with basic construction, assembly and repair work
- Performing site preparation and cleanup
- Following drawings, measurements or instructions provided by supervisors when required
- Identifying and reporting potential hazards or unsafe conditions
- Following all company and site-specific safety procedures
- Completing other skilled labour and site support duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous industrial, commercial or construction labour experience is required
- Experience working alongside skilled trades is strongly preferred
- Comfortable using common hand and power tools
- Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift
- Strong understanding of construction-site safety practices
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a crew
- Ability to follow instructions while also working independently when required
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Flexibility to work different shifts and project schedules
- Appropriate PPE as required by the project
Safety Tickets & Certifications
Depending on the project or client site, workers may be required to hold one or more of the following current certifications:
- CSTS
- CSO
- H2S Alive
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space
- WHMIS
- Standard First Aid
- Additional project or site-specific certifications
Applicants do not necessarily need to hold every certification listed above. Requirements will vary by project.
Assignment Information
Potential assignments may include:
- Short-term project support
- Shutdowns and turnarounds
- Several-week assignments
- Three-to-six-month projects
- Longer-term industrial or construction projects
Workforce requirements will vary depending on individual projects. Successful applicants may be added to our Ready-to-Deploy Workforce Pool and contacted when an opportunity matching their experience, certifications and availability becomes available.
